Eating out in London as a vegan isn’t always simple. However, there are options available. Having a quick google of ‘vegan restaurants near me’ you will usually find a few.
This weekend I went to Pizza Express and was very impressed with their vegan menu . I had a Vegan Puttanesca (Jackfruit marinated in a traditional Puttanesca sauce of tomatoes, olives, capers, red onion, chilli, garlic & herbs, with vegan mozzarella alternative, finished with fresh parsley on a Classic base.)
While my father had a Vegan Giardiniera (artichoke, closed cup mushroom, red onion and black olives, with tomato, vegan mozzarella and garlic oil, finished with fresh parsley on a Romana base).
Both pizza’s were very tasty. Their bases crispy and toppings flavoursome. Personally I am not overly keen on vegan mozzarella. Next time I shall ask for it without. Despite the cheese, the pizza was delicious.
There were other options available too. E.g. pastas and salads. Find their vegan menu here.
I was even treated with a vegan dessert. I enjoyed a sweet carrot cake with a creamy dairy-free icing. This comes with a hot drink of your choice. I went for a fresh mint tea.
My mother had a vegan coconut sorbet. The rich cocunut flavour was divine.
I would recommend Pizza Express as a great vegan option.
